OPEN today (Weds Dec 24) A few inches of yesterday's snow stuck around, and Lloyd's out grooming the slopes, so we're opening for Christmas Eve. The base is still a bit rough, and needs a few more inches. We're looking forward to a drop in temps, so Volunteers can crank up the snowmaking.
This week's unseasonable and unfriendly weather determines our daily status. Safety is highest concern, and we will open as conditions permit. We're assessing the situation through the day, and keep info updated as conditions change.
Tomorrow's the big day! We're opening the chairlift and ropetow 9:30-4:30 for the season. >>Here's the update on conditions from Volunteer groomer Lloyd Turner: "It's looking a lot better than I expected it would. Portway turned out really good, Little Joe is skiable, but D4 is sketchy on the steep but the bottom is ok. The beginner/terrain park will be good. Looks like we should be able to open on Saturday, Might have to close off D4 though. Not really enough time to make enough snow to cover it. Don't bring your good skis just yet, and no hard slalom turns or you'll be in the dirt. Keep it nice and smooth and you'll be OK." |
