Good Day Skiers, it’s 32º and overcast with 4-5 inches of new snow this morning.
Today we packed and set a track on Sugarbush and Oppedahl’s. We also groomed and set a track on Telford, Beginners Loop, lower Dog Road Entrance, Lower Seagull, most of Abbey Road, Anchor, Switch Back, Power Line, and Roller Coaster. This new snow required extra work to groom out so we will continue working on the rest of the system. 50 some years ago Doc Telford and friends started Cross Country skiing at Mt. Ashwabay. Countless hours of trail work, contributions of hundreds of people, and lots of snow allows me today to take a picture of an almost perfect trail. Note the snow bank on the left.
It may look perfect but it’s still a little on the soft side until we groom again. As of Tuesday night (after lots of work by many volunteers) all the trails except for Jolly, Skid Road, Deer Path, and Black Bear are groomed and tracked. Most will ski very well, some softer than others but we are getting just a little spoiled this year. Last night the trail were groomed. They are still soft. Use low tire pressure for an excellent ride.
Yesterday tracks were set on Sugar Bush, Oppedahl’s,and Seagull up-hill connector Classic. The groomers are still working on getting the rest of the trails groomed and tracked. With the recent snow it is taking a little longer.
We got 10 inches of fresh snow last night!! The hill has been groomed but plenty of area has been left for powder skiing.
