Thank you for respecting a safe distance from logging areas. Winter is upon us, and everyone at Mt Ashwabay is hard at work getting prepped for another great season on the snow. A dedicated crew of Staff and Volunteers have been racing to get everything ready, and we've set a goal of Saturday, December 20th for the 2014/2015 season opener. With all the recent snowfall, many are itching to get out on the slopes. Although we did receive a generous amount of snow, there is not nearly enough to open. The grass on the slopes is still visible, and we'll need quite a few more inches before the hill is in any condition for skiing or snowboarding. We also have a lot of prep work yet to complete, from the chairlift and rope-tow to the grooming and safety equipment. If able to get everything ready, and the snow continues to fall, we'll open early as possible. If you're able to volunteer, we'd love your assistance with pre-season tasks. Give us a call 715-779-3227 to find out how you can help.
With all the recent snow, the Volunteer Grooming Crew has been out on the cross-country trails packing a base. As the season progresses, we'll be updating and reporting as conditions change. ::Nordic Conditions:: -New snowfall: 8 inches -Base: 4-12 inches variable ::Volunteer Groomer Activity Report:: -Classic: Deerpath, Sugarbush, Jolly Long, Anchor, Seagull all rolled and packed. *A section of Deer Path was plowed to give haul-out access to loggers; please be aware some areas are not yet open for skiing.
