Mt. Ashwabay is more than a recreation area — it’s a community built by helping hands, warm hearts, and shared passion for the outdoors. Every trail groomed, log stacked, or a student learning to ski, a smile shared happens because people like you step up to make it possible. Whether you can lend an hour or a weekend, volunteer work keeps our hill running and our chalet warm — literally and figuratively.
WHY VOLUNTEER? When you volunteer, you’re not just helping maintain a hill — you’re helping sustain a community space that brings joy to people of all ages. YOUR WORK: - Keeps our chalet warm for gatherings and events - Keeps our trails safe and beautiful - Keeps our community connected through shared purpose And sometimes, the best gift isn’t financial — it’s a helping hand, a story, or a moment shared!
OPPORTUNITIESWITH THE NORDIC SKI PROGRAM
Here are the key Nordic volunteer opportunities and dates at Mt. Ashwabay this season. Along with trail work and grooming, Nordic volunteers play a huge role in making the Summit Ski Race happen each year. Opportunities include helping with pre-race setup, aid stations out on the course, timing and racer flow support, bib pick-up and racer check-in, baking and serving pies and post-race food, and tear-down and clean up once the awards are done.
It’s a chance to support a nationally regarded Nordic trail system, cheer on youth, college, and citizen skiers, and be part of one of Mt. Ashwabay’s signature winter community events overlooking Lake Superior.
GIVE IN THE WAY THAT FITS YOU BEST! Every bit of support helps keep Mt.
