Hopefully you got your fill of winter fat biking. The thunderstorm and downpour this morning sealed the fate of winter fat biking. I'm not planning on any more grooming with any new snow. I suggest transitioning you're cycling to cleared roads.
Please stay off the dirt trails until they officially open. Look for CAMBA's opening announcements. Ashwabay single track could be ready by the end of April but May is a safer bet. MIKE  Groomed up Mt Ashwabay Fat Bike this evening. There was about 8 dense inches of snow with a lot water in it. It seemed to pack pretty well.
MIKE I made a pass over Mt Ashwabay Fat last night, unfortunately it was pretty firm at 31 degrees so the grooming didn't do as much as I had hoped. Fortunately, people stayed off the trail during the melt so there aren't ruts and divots. So thank you for waiting.
This morning is 44 degrees and no new snow...yet. Under the crusty layer the snow was still soft nougat. So wait until later today to go out. We're only forecasted 1-2 in the Bayfield peninsula so riding should be good for the weekend. MIKE |
