JOB OPENING - COOK - SUMMER 2019

Job Description
Cafe/Grill Cook
Prepare, cook, and serve food in an outdoor concession area during Big Top Chautauqua events from mid-June through mid-September on the grounds of Mt. Ashwabay. Work schedules may be between Wednesday and Sunday from early evening to late night. 

Responsibilities Include: 
-Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas. 
-Clean food preparation and storage areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils. 
-Verify that prepared food meets requirements for quality and quantity. 
-Cook food, such as hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, and french fries which are prepared to order or kept warm until sold. 
-Operate large-volume cooking equipment such as grills or griddles. 
-Read food order slips or receive verbal instructions as to food required by patron, and prepare and cook food according to instructions. 
-Record, track, and maintain inventory levels. 
-Prepare on-site catered events (25-75 people, varies) 


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 
-Customer and Personal Service – Familiar with providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. 
-English Language – Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words. 
-Active Listening – Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. 
-Service Orientation – Actively looking for ways to help people. 
-Social Perceptiveness – Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do. 
-Oral Expression – The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand. 
-Oral Comprehension – The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. 
-Problem Sensitivity – The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. 
-Written Comprehension – The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.  

Education and Experience Requirements 
Preferred applicants will have a high school diploma and at least six months experience. Applicant must be at least 18 years or older. 

Physical Requirements 
While performing the duties of this job, the cook is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak, and hear. This position requires the use of the employee’s hands to perform the necessary tasks. The employee must occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable otherwise qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  

Working Conditions 
Work environment may be indoors or outdoors. Noise levels may be moderate to high.
