Grooming this time a year is a little hit an miss. Sometimes it is so cold we can't get the teeth of the ginzu's to penetrate the thick layer of crust. Sometimes it is a sloppy mess and too warm to groom. Yet sometimes we get fresh snow and can freshen the trails up a bit.
Ashwabay got 2-3 inches of wet snow last night. All the Classic only trails were finally able to be reset along with part of Jolly Long from Oppedahls to South Lower Sugarbush. Skate/Combo Trails that had tracks reset and skate lanes combed include, Abbey Road, Anchor (all segments), Northern Lights, & the Buzz.

Groomers have been out working hard this morning. Harold the snow cat is working on the Anchor system first and will contine to do Abbey Road, Northern Lights, and the Buzz. HiHo Silver, 4 Runner, is out on Jolley Long. With 2 passes on the classic tracks they are still a lillt shallow. Tomorrow, Tuesday, BooBoo Bearcat Sled is planning on working on resetting all of the classic only trails. More snow is coming.
One of the great thing about the trails at Mt. Ashwabay is that they don't have open and closed hours. You can come early in the morning or late at night and get out and enjoy the beauty of the woods. With the Spring Season probably coming, we will continue to groom and maintain the trails when the weather allows. The quickest updates will be on skinny ski, followed by the website, facebook, and the trailhead.
BooBoo Bearcat snowmobile was out this morning tracking the back half of Deerpath and Blackbear. Harold, the snowcat, finished up grooming all the skate combo trails yesterday. This leaves the first section of Deerpath, Seagull, and South Lower Sugarbush yet to be groomed. |
