Despite a bit of chilly weather, we had a busy day at Mt Ashwabay this New Years Eve. The chalet was filled with families all day, with everyone taking breaks from the cold to enjoy some time by the fireplace with a cocoa or some chili-cheese fries from the cafe. The slopes were still being blasted by snow-guns, as skiers and boarders learned the basics in the Holiday Mini-Camps, or improved their skills with the high-school team practice. The cross-country trails saw action, too, with many enjoying a day out in the woods. Get yourself and your gnomies ready! WinterDASH 2015 is right around that snowy corner. We're updating the 'DASH website, and have started registrations. Check it out HERE
A great gang of skiers from the Mesabi East / Virginia / Eveleth-Gilbert Nordic Ski Team enjoyed a day on the trails at Ashwabay. Team members were out practicing on different trail systems in the area, and we were happy to welcome them, and glad they enjoyed the trail network. Come back again! CAMBA volunteers and Ashwabay team up to host the 3rd annual Double Doughnut Derby. Fat-tire bikers take to snow-covered trails to challenge themselves and each other on a climb up, and descent down, following portions of Raven and Deerpath Trails. Proceeds benefit the Ashwabay single track project.
