Course update:
The race course is shaping up nicely. This past weekend the trails where compacted and ridden making the route 100% ride able. The forecast for the week is showing a mild warming trend which will further help firm things up. The race day forecast looks like an awesome day to play outside. Due to manageable snow conditions this year some manually packed mountain bike single track has been added. By doing this the number of laps will be reduced from 3 to 2 but keeping the distance within the range of 12ish miles. Compared to previous editions of the Double Doughnut Derby, there will be a longer run out on XC trail before entering single track. This is intended to reduce stress and congestion. On the second lap additional single track with be used instead of the XC trail. Later in the race there will be some areas of 2 way traffic on XC trail but the width will be maximized to allow for this. In the event of heavy snow the originally planned 100% machine packed trail is available and will be used. Also: the North Coast Cycling Association is hosting their Midwinter Get-Together and Potluck following the race from 3-6 PM. The potluck is open to participants and volunteers. Let's have some fun! Details about the Derby available HERE Check out a tentative course map and preview video after the break... |
